This policy should be read together with the DAT PAY Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
DAT PAY uses cookies and similar technologies primarily to operate, secure and improve its digital services.
Some technologies are strictly necessary for the operation and security of our services. Other technologies may require your consent before they are activated, depending on applicable law.
2. What Are Cookies?

Similar technologies may include:
- local storage;

They may support:
- account authentication;
- session management;
- security;
- fraud prevention;

Security technologies help protect DAT PAY and its users from:
- unauthorised access;
- account takeover;
- automated attacks;
- malicious traffic;
- fraud;

These cookies allow DAT PAY to remember choices you have made.
Examples may include:
- language preferences;
- region preferences;
- display preferences;
- cookie preferences;
- session-related preferences.
Where consent is required, these technologies will only be activated after the appropriate consent has been obtained.

Analytics technologies help DAT PAY understand how visitors use our website.
They may provide information such as:
- pages visited;

- browser type;
- device type;
- referral source;
- time spent on pages;

- errors and technical issues.
Analytics information may be aggregated or otherwise processed to improve our website and services.

Marketing Cookies
Marketing technologies may be used to understand interactions with our communications, campaigns or digital content.
They may be used to:
- measure campaign performance;
- understand engagement;
- limit repetitive advertising;
- evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities.
DAT PAY will only use marketing cookies or similar technologies where permitted by applicable law and, where consent is required, after obtaining the required consent.
5. Cookie Consent
Where applicable law requires consent, DAT PAY will request consent before activating non-essential cookies.
Our cookie consent mechanism may allow you to:
- accept all optional cookies;
- reject optional cookies;
- select specific categories;
- change your preferences later.
Consent should be freely given, informed, specific and unambiguous where required by applicable law.
We do not rely solely on continued browsing as consent where applicable law requires an affirmative act.
Where consent is required, non-essential cookies should not be activated before the applicable consent is obtained.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can manage your preferences through the cookie settings available on the DAT PAY website.
Where available, the cookie settings mechanism will allow you to change your preferences after your initial selection.
You may also control certain cookies through your browser settings.
Browser controls may allow you to:
- delete existing cookies;
- block cookies;
- receive notifications when cookies are set;
- restrict certain types of cookies.
Blocking or deleting cookies may affect the functionality, security or availability of certain website features.
7. Withdrawal of Consent
Where DAT PAY relies on your consent for cookies or similar technologies, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
You can withdraw or change your preferences through the cookie settings mechanism provided on the website.
Where technically necessary, some strictly necessary technologies may continue to operate because disabling them would prevent the requested service or compromise security.
8. Third-Party Technologies
DAT PAY may use technologies provided by third parties.
These third parties may provide services such as:
- analytics;
- security;
- fraud prevention;
- website performance;
- communications;
- authentication;
- customer support;
- infrastructure;
- marketing.
Third-party technologies may process information according to the applicable contractual arrangements and their own privacy policies.
Where a third party acts as an independent controller, its processing may be governed by its own privacy notice.
DAT PAY does not authorise third parties to use personal data for purposes incompatible with the applicable service relationship or applicable law.
9. Cookies Used in the DAT PAY Client Environment
The DAT PAY client environment may use cookies and similar technologies required for:
- authentication;
- maintaining secure sessions;
- protecting user accounts;
- preventing session hijacking;
- detecting suspicious activity;
- maintaining application functionality;
- recording security events;
- preserving user preferences.
Because the client environment may involve financial and security-sensitive functionality, certain cookies and similar technologies may be essential to the secure operation of the service.
We may also use additional technologies where necessary to meet regulatory, security, fraud prevention or operational requirements.
10. Cookies and Financial Security
Cookies and similar technologies may form part of DAT PAY’s broader security architecture.
They may help us identify:
- abnormal login activity;
- suspicious session behaviour;
- unusual device activity;
- repeated failed authentication;
- automated attacks;
- attempts to compromise accounts.
Cookie information may therefore be combined with other technical information, including authentication logs, IP addresses, device information and security events, where necessary for security, fraud prevention and compliance purposes.
11. Cookies and Personal Data
Some cookie identifiers may constitute personal data where they can be associated with an identifiable individual.
Where cookie information constitutes personal data, DAT PAY processes it in accordance with applicable data protection laws and the DAT PAY Privacy Policy.
Our processing may include:
- collection;
- storage;
- analysis;
- security monitoring;
- sharing with authorised service providers;
- deletion or anonymisation.
The legal basis for processing depends on the type of technology and the purpose for which it is used.
12. International Processing
Some service providers supporting DAT PAY’s website and digital infrastructure may process technical information outside Cameroon.
Where cookie-related information constitutes personal data and is transferred internationally, DAT PAY will apply the safeguards required by applicable law.
This may include contractual safeguards, approved transfer mechanisms, regulatory authorisations or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Further information is provided in the DAT PAY Privacy Policy.
13. Retention
The retention period for cookies depends on their purpose.
Cookies may be:
Session Cookies
These generally remain active only for the duration of a browsing session and are deleted or expire when the session ends.
Persistent Cookies
These remain on a device for a defined period or until they are deleted.
The applicable retention period depends on the purpose of the cookie and the technical configuration of the service.
DAT PAY will not retain personal data obtained through cookies longer than reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose, unless longer retention is required or permitted by law.
14. Cookie Categories and Retention
The cookie consent interface may provide additional information about individual cookies, including:
- cookie name;
- provider;
- purpose;
- category;
- duration;
- whether the cookie is first-party or third-party.
Because our technology environment may change over time, the cookie inventory may be updated without requiring a complete amendment to this policy.
Where material changes affect your rights or consent choices, DAT PAY will provide appropriate notice.
15. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers provide “Do Not Track” or similar mechanisms.
Because there is currently no universally consistent technical standard for responding to all such signals, DAT PAY may not respond to every browser-based Do Not Track signal.
Where applicable law requires a particular response to such signals, DAT PAY will comply with the applicable requirements.
16. Similar Technologies Without Cookies
DAT PAY may use technologies that perform functions similar to cookies, including:
- local storage;
- device identifiers;
- security tokens;
- pixels;
- tags;
- session identifiers;
- software development kits.
These technologies may be subject to the same consent and data protection requirements as cookies where applicable.
17. Privacy and Cookie Controls
Your cookie preferences are separate from your account and service preferences.
Changing your cookie preferences does not automatically:
- close your DAT PAY account;
- delete your account;
- withdraw consent relating to unrelated processing;
- cancel a transaction;
- remove information that DAT PAY is legally required to retain.
Requests concerning personal data should be handled in accordance with the DAT PAY Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to This Cookie Policy
DAT PAY may update this Cookie Policy when:
- new technologies are introduced;
- existing technologies are removed;
- website functionality changes;
- regulatory requirements change;
- our service providers change;
- our processing activities change;
- applicable data protection requirements change.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Where required by law, DAT PAY will provide additional notice or obtain renewed consent.
